Today, I took a day off.  A day off from my usual home chores & daily routine.  I just couldn’t wait for the weekend to do a little shopping.  My all-time favorite clothing brand from Japan just recently opened up a pop-up shop in my city in anticipation of their very first West Coast flagship store (which will officially make its debut this October).  I just couldn’t wait to take a quick peek at the pop-up shop before the flagship opening & snag a few much-needed items for the sooner-than-you-think fall.

I felt quite guilty though, since October isn’t really that far away (considering how fast time flies these days).  I know I could’ve just waited until then… Or even more so, I could’ve waited until November when I embark on my trip to Tokyo.  But alas, I was a bit impatient & decided to just pick up only the exact things I need right now (& resist the urge to max out my husband’s credit card. Tee-Hee…)

Some of the items I purchased were much needed goods such as: a thin coat, a zip-up down vest, a few undershirts, & a pair of denim jeans (which can be tailored in-store, same-day).  So, while waiting for my jeans to be tailored, I continued to stroll the downtown shopping area…& I ended up back at my favorite stationery shop.

I couldn’t resist! There were just too many greeting cards staring back at me, shouting, “Please buy me!”  I was very tempted to grab everything, but I only ended up buying some cards for a few upcoming weddings I will be attending.  Oh who am I kidding?! I splurged a tiny bit & also bought a “You’re A Fox” card & a sheet of cute sticker seals.  (I just can’t resist sparkly things!)

Time to go, my phone battery is about to go kaput.  Woof.

It’s been a few months since I’ve moved into our new apartment, & I haven’t even thought of putting up any artwork on the walls until recently.  I have always been a little apprehensive about putting up posters, paintings, or any type of wall art in our place.  Just thinking about the patching up of all the holes, if I ever decide to move out, turns me off big time.  Well, I guess I decided to give in & get some artwork to spruce up our bland apartment walls.

So far, I’ve only got 2 pieces of art on our walls, but I’ve become quite fond of them, & I think they really jazz up the decor in our place.

I found this piece of art while walking in the park one weekend.  It’s a very cool spray paint art of the famous San Francisco “49 Mile Scenic Drive” road sign hand-made by local artist J. Mahoney.

I found this print on Fab.com by accident, & I instantly fell in love with it.  This poster print perfectly showcases my love of minimalistic & abstract design as well as my love of Japan & its culture.

These are just two pieces of art in our apartment for now.  I am planning on putting up more artwork…but these will do for now.  So far, I’ve found a solution to my “hole-in-the-wall” dilemma.  I’ve found these great 3M Command velcro strips for hanging up picture frames & mirrors.  The pack of strips that I got are able to hold up to 30 pounds in weight.  These strips, I’ve gotta say, are so amazing.  They are the perfect solution to hanging up art, mirrors & things in an apartment without damaging the walls.  I pretty much use these Command strips all over my apartment.  I’m glad I found these little gems.

I am the type of person who likes to write letters by hand (not by e-mail), & I love to make birthday cards & decorate them for friends.  I’m kind of an amateur Arts & Crafts maker.  (I have one friend who makes her own pop-up greeting cards, but I’m not quite at that level yet.)  I guess you can say that it’s all the glitter & shiny objects that draw me into this hobby.  I love going to an art supplies store, a hobby shop, or a stationer & picking out materials & such for a new project.  Sometimes my husband thinks I’m a little nutty for being so in love (& extremely picky) with those things, but that’s just me.  Most of my Arts & Crafts obsession comes in the form of decorating cards & letters with stickers & colorful pens, or adding a few beads here & there to random things.

I very rarely ever show my hobby supplies to anyone. This is an extremely rare glimpse into my hobby supplies.  Most of this has been an ongoing collection over a span of many years (about 10+ years).  I’ve been a huge fan of stickers & decals ever since I was a little kid.  This sticker stockpile is approximately ⅓ of my entire collection.  (I’ve given quite a few away to friends & family.)  I’ve also recently become a fan of gel ink pens (my favorite is the Zebra Sarasa Gel Clip pens in 0.44mm size).  Most, if not all, of my letter sets & greeting cards I’ve purchased in Japan.  There are two home goods department stores in Japan that I absolutely love & must visit every time I go back to Japan…& I almost exclusively get all of my hobby supplies from: Tokyu Hands & LoFT.  Hopefully after this, I’ll be able to showcase a few of my latest creations.  Enjoy!
