I got this iPhone case 7 months ago while I was visiting Tokyo. As usual, the mega stationery/crafts shop LoFT always carries a large selection of electronics accessories & cases. I knew I would find one for my new cellphone at LoFT.
I ended up getting this rather simple case. It’s a soft pink color & has a sheep polka dot print all over. I say they could either be happy sheep, or fluffy cotton balls with smiley faces. I like this case, not only because it looks feminine (& I’ve been trying to become more feminine, less tomboy lately), but also because it is a very thin case.
I’ve used hard-shell cases in the past, ones that are meant for harsh conditions, & they tend to be bulky & uncomfortable to use. This new case is quite thin, yet it is still extremely durable. It also protects my phone in case I drop it (which I have done several times already). This case is made from a flexible plastic-like material, & the outer texture is rubberized for a good no-slip grip. It’s not a full wrap-around case, so it’s perfect for when you need to charge your phone or plug in headphones with a chunky plug. I used to use an Uncommon brand case, & every time I needed to charge my phone, I had to pop out the bottom of the case to get the plug to fit. With this case, there is easy access all around.
I feel a bit disappointed that I didn’t DIY myself another “gem-ed out” cellphone case like I did for my previous phone. Perhaps I will make another DIY case again, but first, I must think of a new design for my next case. Time to browse ETSY… Cheers!
Today’s Song of the Day:
Arctic Monkeys “Why’d You Only Call Me When I’m High?”
I’ve been wanting a blinged-out, bedazzled, crystalized cell phone case for a long time. However, I was having a really tough time finding a case that I really liked. The more I searched, the more frustrated I was getting. All of the cases I saw online or in-store were not to my liking (either not a color I liked, or not a design I liked). I found a few online shops that offered customizing services, but those options were extremely expensive. Not only were the crystalized cases I found very expensive, I was also unsure of the quality of the cases.
Soooo, I gave up on trying to find a ready-made crystalized cell phone case that I thought was “the one” & decided to make my own custom cell phone case. By doing this, I was able to choose the materials I wanted, & I was able to customize my case however I liked. Also, I found this method to be quite cost saving, & it gave me a sense of self-accompishment. Well, here’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Let’s take a look at my finished DIY project.
Materials Used:
- pink plastic shell cover for iPhone 4/4s (color: sweet pink w/ glitter effect)
- mixed rhinestone beads
- Swarovski crystal beads
- crafting bond glue
I bought this inexpensive case from an online Japanese retailer that ships overseas to most countries. I also got all the rhinestone beads from Etsy. The Swarovski crystals came from my own private crafts supplies collection. After arranging & gluing all of the beads, I allowed the crafting glue to set & dry for at least 1 full day before using the case. Et voilà! There you go. That’s the end of it. ❤
I just discovered this crazy awesome new radio App called Rio Radio, & I am completely obsessed with it! I am so in love with this App that I put it on both my iPhone & my iPad. This App streams popular Brazilian music (some straight from local Sao Paulo radio stations, complete with commercials), & also streams popular Bossa Nova, Jazz & Samba music.
Lately, I’ve just been on this extreme Brazilian everything spree. I have been practically binging on all things Brazil. For example, I recently bought the Blu-Ray DVD of one of my all-time favorite movies: RIO, & I have been playing this movie on repeat everyday. I’ve also been listening to Brazilian Pop music non-stop (even when I’m working out at the gym) even though I don’t understand a lick of Portuguese! Well, I do somewhat understand the universal Spanish words, but I don’t understand any of the traditional Portuguese words. Although, I do find the language very interesting (& sounds very close to French)!
I’ve also been dreaming a lot lately of visiting Rio de Janeiro. I’ve been playing around with the idea of visiting Rio for my honeymoon vacation…but the only thing that’s holding me back from taking the plunge to go there is the safety concern. I’ve been reading up on a lot of travel guides & tourism board websites, & all the resources say that right now is not really safe for tourists to travel to Brazil. I’ve even had a former boss that visited Sao Paulo in mid 2011 for a business trip, & he had to travel around town with a personal driver & a bodyguard. I know that sounds like a totally extreme case, but his experience really makes me think twice about traveling to my fantasy destination until the tourist safety situation improves.
Anyway…enough about my Brazilian obsession. I am also listening to my (usual) favorite Bossa Nova & Jazz music on the Rio Radio App. I really love this App, except for the tiny little bug in the App where it’ll sometimes shut-off by itself…but otherwise, I am smit-ten! Que é tão surpreendente. <— copied from Google Translate.
