This past Memorial Day weekend, I went on a little shopping excursion with a girl-friend of mine. I was helping her pick out children’s gifts for some friends (with kids) she is planning on visiting for her upcoming vacation, but then, I ended up doing a little shopping of my own. I was kind of, aimlessly wandering around the shop when I came across a rack of greeting cards. There were some really cute hand drawn cards by a local artist named Nidhi Chanani that I found, & I couldn’t resist picking up a few. I recognized this artist, as I recently bought & framed an art print by this very artist. I love all of the San Francisco inspired artwork by this artist, & I love the light-hearted nature of all of the scenes being depicted in the artwork.

I love this art print of a couple embracing while gazing at the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s such a romantic scene, & it’s the greeting card version of the very same art print I hung in my bedroom. I feel like the characters in this print could possibly resemble myself & my favorite person (Mr. H.).

This is such a whimsical art print. I just love the relaxed, romantic feeling of this picnic moment in the park while blowing bubbles.

This is one of my favorite art prints. I am a HUGE baseball fan, & the Giants are our local city’s baseball team. This also reminded me of my favorite person (Mr. H.) who is also a big-time Giants fan, & the characters in this print sort of look like us.

This is the original Nidhi Chanani art print that I purchased & framed. It is now happily hung on the wall in my bedroom. I’d also like to THINK that the characters in this particular print also resembles myself & my favorite person (Mr. H.).

Well, you know me. How could I resist these cute & adorable stickers? There were so many to choose from, but I restrained myself to only getting two.
Today’s song of the day:
“Percussion Gun” by White Rabbits

Well, as you may have heard…I am a huge sticker/decal fanatic. I mean, I am just BA-NA-NA-S for all things stickers (bumper stickers, decals, deco washi tape, etc.) This is painfully expressed in my previous posts 1 & 2. So, what better way to show off my obsession passion for stickers by plastering them all over my laptop! This is what I have done so far, & I am definitely planning on adding more…
- エステバン (Esuteban) a.k.a. Esteban. This what I’ve named my laptop. Yes, that’s weird, but I’m OK with it.
- Teriyaki Source sticker. This is a nod to the Japanese rap band TERIYAKI BOYZ (which you may recognize from the Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift movie soundtrack)
- MACKDADDY decal. MACDADDY is a popular hip-hop streetwear brand from Japan.
- Black Icon Urban Garment sticker. This is one of the many logos from each clothing season of the famous Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD.
- B Side Label Fox decal. The phrase says: 狐の嫁入いです (kitsune no yomeiri idesu), which I think roughly translates to “To be married into a fox” (?) I’m a bit doubtful of my translation…
- BAPE STA sticker. This is a nod to the Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (a.k.a. BAPE).
- Fragment Design decal. Fragment is also another popular streetwear brand from Japan.
- NEXUSVII (Nexus 7) paper sticker. Yet another popular streetwear brand from Japan.
- HUF ‘H’ decal. Finally a label not from Japan. This one’s an urban skater/streetwear brand from San Francisco.
- B Side Label Otter decal. I can’t really make out what the characters say on this one, since the writing is so small and squished together. I could only decipher the word “safety”, or something like that.
- NEIGHBORHOOD Urban Garment sticker. This is the main logo for the Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD. As you can see, I am a big fan of this brand (& so is my husband).
- Firmament Berlin Renaissance sticker. Firmament Berlin is a popular clothing shop located in Germany. They carry various urban streetwear brands, most from Japan.
I am the type of person who likes to write letters by hand (not by e-mail), & I love to make birthday cards & decorate them for friends. I’m kind of an amateur Arts & Crafts maker. (I have one friend who makes her own pop-up greeting cards, but I’m not quite at that level yet.) I guess you can say that it’s all the glitter & shiny objects that draw me into this hobby. I love going to an art supplies store, a hobby shop, or a stationer & picking out materials & such for a new project. Sometimes my husband thinks I’m a little nutty for being so in love (& extremely picky) with those things, but that’s just me. Most of my Arts & Crafts obsession comes in the form of decorating cards & letters with stickers & colorful pens, or adding a few beads here & there to random things.
I very rarely ever show my hobby supplies to anyone. This is an extremely rare glimpse into my hobby supplies. Most of this has been an ongoing collection over a span of many years (about 10+ years). I’ve been a huge fan of stickers & decals ever since I was a little kid. This sticker stockpile is approximately ⅓ of my entire collection. (I’ve given quite a few away to friends & family.) I’ve also recently become a fan of gel ink pens (my favorite is the Zebra Sarasa Gel Clip pens in 0.44mm size). Most, if not all, of my letter sets & greeting cards I’ve purchased in Japan. There are two home goods department stores in Japan that I absolutely love & must visit every time I go back to Japan…& I almost exclusively get all of my hobby supplies from: Tokyu Hands & LoFT. Hopefully after this, I’ll be able to showcase a few of my latest creations. Enjoy!
