Like a tanning bed or coffin with extra headroom, the capsule hotel, popular for decades in Japan, is geared toward businessmen or late-night pleasure seekers too drunk or tired to head home. Stacked two high like washing machines, the capsules are typically equipped with beds, a mounted TV, wireless connection and a privacy shade for its lone window.
