It’s raining again today, the first sign of Spring. Today I’m visiting one of the bustling neighborhoods of the city. I’m sitting at a small café among the quiet students, budding artists, & chatty businessmen heartily discussing work over a cup of coffee & a well-worn laptop.

It’s drizzling outside, not quite a shower or a mist, but just enough to make use of my orange umbrella. I am nestled cozily in the warmth of the small café, just casually gazing out of the lead (or whatever metal) framed window. It brings such joy to be enveloped in the comfort of a warm, dry bubble…all while the world outside of this bubble soaks up the dampness falling from the sky. “Ahhh, this is the good life,” I note to myself. This IS the good life indeed, with my toasted chocolate croissant & hot cup of French Roast coffee (add sugar & half-&-half).

Amongst all that is happening around outside, it is very relaxing & therapeutic to take a well-deserved break every now & again just to recharge one’s soul. Just take a breather. How long? Five minutes? Ten minutes? One hour? Who cares! As long as you’re having fun while doing it. Just a bit of a caution: Contents may be delicious while served in a To-Go cup. Cheers!

Oh!!! Today’s song of the day:
More Today Than Yesterday

Alright, alright.  I’ve bought into the hype; I’ve fallen for the ads on TV.  I am officially in love with Gevalia brand coffee.  I am a huge coffee addict: the stronger, the better.  So, my interest was already piqued when I first caught a glimpse of the (cute) TV ads for the coffee brand.

I started off being one of those crazy Starbucks fanatics who thinks Starbucks is the be-all-end-all of coffee beans, but the Gevalia brand really changed my stubborn ol’ mind.  So far I’ve already tried the French Roast & Espresso Blend coffee beans (I like to grind the beans myself), &  I already love this brand.  They taste just as strong & flavorful as the Starbucks brand.

Ok, it may seem like I’m brown-nosing the Gevalia brand…but I’m just really excited about my recent discovery.  I first fell in love with the commercials.  This is my favorite commercial:

This statement has probably been said millions of times over, but for me, I miss the fast-paced lifestyle & the bustling streets.  I miss the perfectly manicured socialites dressed to-the-nines hailing a cab in their triple-digit Christian Loubutin pumps; the savory aroma of the homely street vendor peddling fresh hot dogs & salted pretzels; the ever-present bright neon lights of the infamous Times Square… I miss it all.

You know, I’ve only been to New York once in my life, but one encounter was all it took for me to fall in love with the city. Being in New York reminds me of the wonderful times I’ve spent in Tokyo. Both cities are filled to the brim with skyscrapers & neon lights & gorgeous folks dashing to their next fabulous destination.

I just love the hustle & bustle of the ever-changing city & it’s extremely urban lifestyle & culture.

Ok, so…put all the couture shopping, gourmet eating & museum viewing aside. Forget about all the various landmarks the city has to offer. The key element that keeps me so entranced with the city is the whole atmosphere/aura of it all.

Sitting in a street cafe on the quaint shop corner, I love watching the people walk by, some with meticulouusly groomed dogs in tow, some pushing the baby strollers of their employer alongside a number of equally employed child-care staff, others walking the early morning path of shame leading from their miatress’ apartment…

I just love to sit in a cafe or on a park bench with my fiancée, sipping our coffee drinks & watching the scenery in the daytime. Then, after a light lunch, we’ll go for a little afternoon shopping before heading out to a fun dinner & night on the town.

This is the perfectly painted scene of a time spent in New York. Enjoy.
